What are dentures?
Dentures, often called false teeth, are custom-made prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth. They sit comfortably on the gums, supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the mouth. While traditional dentures are removable—either as a full set or a partial replacement—there are also advanced designs that attach securely using clasps, bonding, or even dental implants for a more fixed solution. Dentures generally fall into two main types, depending on whether they fit the upper (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) arch of the mouth.
How Dentures Improve Quality of Life
Chewing (Mastication): Dentures restore the ability to chew effectively by replacing missing teeth, making eating easier and more comfortable.
Appearance (Aesthetics): Dentures help maintain a natural facial structure by supporting the lips and cheeks, preventing the sunken look caused by missing teeth.
Speech (Pronunciation): Missing teeth, especially front teeth, can affect speech clarity. Dentures improve pronunciation, making it easier to articulate certain sounds like "s" and "f."
Confidence (Self-Esteem): A full, natural-looking smile enhances self-confidence, making social interactions and communication more comfortable.
Types of dentures
Full Dentures (Set)
A full set of complete dentures are designed for those who have lost all their teeth in both the upper (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) arch. These removable prosthetics rely on suction (maxillary) to stay in place and restore function and aesthetics. We craft ours using the latest technology and materials. They can be completed in as few as 3 appointments - if you require no extractions.
Full Denture (Single)
A complete denture for either your (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) arch, where you have no natural teeth remaining. Upper (maxillary) dentures rely on suction to stay in place, restoring function and aesthetics. We craft ours using the latest technology and materials. They can be completed in as few as 3 appointments - if you require no extractions.
Partial Dentures
Removable Partial Dentures: Designed for patients missing some teeth in a specific area, these dentures can be taken out and put back in easily. They can be made with or without a support framework - we have a comparison of types of removable partial dentures below.
While dentures restore function and appearance, they require proper care, as they can be challenging to clean and impact oral hygiene if not maintained properly.
